Worth It
The best way to see the exhibition at launch, with a genuinely substantial astronomy talk and a new Cumbrian night-sky film rather than a simple opening reception.
The Cosmic Cumbria opening evening starts at 7pm on Friday 23 October 2026. The programme begins with the official exhibition opening, followed by the first public screening of Cumbria Night Skies.
After an interval, Professor Roger William Lewis Jones, Head of Physics at Lancaster University and Principal Investigator of the Legacy Survey of Space and Time UK project, talks about the Vera C. Rubin Observatory in Chile and what its 8.4-metre telescope and huge digital camera can reveal about the universe.
Rheged lists the full evening at around 2 hours 20 minutes including the interval. Adult tickets are £12 and concessions £10.
