Terms of
use
These terms apply when you browse Cumbria Guru, create an account, save places or plan a trip.
Who operates Cumbria Guru?
Cumbria Guru is operated by Cumbria Guru.
Contact: hello@cumbriaguru.com
What we provide
Cumbria Guru provides travel inspiration, directory information and tools for organising visits to Cumbria. Unless a paid feature is clearly offered under separate terms, the service is provided without charge.
We may improve, update, suspend or withdraw features. If a change materially affects a paid service or an existing consumer right, we will follow applicable law and any additional terms that apply.
Your account and acceptable use
Give accurate information, keep your credentials secure and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been misused. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account where that responsibility is fair and lawful.
Do not misuse the service, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, scrape it in a way that harms availability, impersonate others, infringe rights, or upload unlawful, misleading, abusive or unsafe material. We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law or investigate misuse.
If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian to review these terms with you. The account service is not intended for children under 13.
Our content and your contributions
Site design, branding, original writing, software and other original material belong to Cumbria Guru or our licensors. You may use the service for personal, non-commercial trip planning, link to public pages and share short extracts with clear attribution. Other reuse requires permission unless the law permits it.
You keep ownership of content you submit. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, format and display it for operating and promoting the service. You confirm you have the necessary rights and that your contribution is accurate to the best of your knowledge. We may moderate or remove content for a legitimate reason.
Travel information changes
Opening times, prices, accessibility, routes, event details, availability and weather-related conditions can change quickly. We work to keep information useful, but you should verify important details with the venue, transport operator or official source before travelling. Content is general information, not professional, safety, medical or accessibility advice.
Bookings and external services
External booking, ticket, mapping, travel and venue websites are operated by third parties. When you transact with them, your contract is with that provider and its terms, cancellation rules and privacy notice apply. We are not the seller or travel organiser unless a page expressly says otherwise.
Some links generate commission or some placements are paid. Read our commercial disclosure for how these are labelled.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights.
Subject to that, we are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, business loss arising from personal use, circumstances outside our reasonable control, or the acts and omissions of independent third-party providers.
Ending use and account data
You may stop using the service at any time. To request account deletion, contact us using the details above. Some information may be retained where reasonably necessary for security, disputes or legal duties, as explained in our privacy notice.
Law and changes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, without taking away any mandatory rights you have under the law where you live. Courts with jurisdiction under applicable consumer law may hear disputes.
We may update these terms for legal, security or service changes. We will give reasonable notice of material changes where appropriate. Continuing to use the service after the effective date means the updated terms apply to future use.
