Worth It

A serious but unusually well-supported circuit of Windermere. The route is sold out, but the guide remains useful to entrants, crews and spectators planning where not to park or provide outside support.

THE LAP Anticlockwise is a 75km/47-mile trail challenge around Windermere for runners and walkers. The organiser publishes approximately 2,600m/8,530ft of ascent, a route that is about 95% trail, singletrack, path, forest road and lakeshore, and a 24-hour completion limit.

Registration is Friday only, 7pm-10pm at Low Cunsey Farm. Entrants must attend in person with photo identification and the race vest or pack on which the GPS tracker will be fitted. There is no Saturday-morning registration. The briefing is at 5.50am and the race starts at 6am sharp.

The 2026 anticlockwise event is full: the organiser says it is sold out with no waiting list. Anticlockwise cut-offs require entrants to leave Troutbeck by 4.30pm, Skelwith by 10pm and Far Sawrey by 3am. The finish closes at 6am Sunday.

Accessibility

This is a long, technical and exposed endurance route rather than an accessible visitor walk. Entrants must meet the organiser's experience, kit and cut-off requirements. Contact the organiser about individual adjustments before race weekend.

Weather plan

The event runs through day and night in normal Lake District weather. The mandatory kit list includes full waterproofs, warm layers, two charged torches and an emergency bag; the organiser's current list controls.
