Acorn Bank Watermill Celebrations 2026

Acorn Bank Watermill Celebrations takes place from 10.30am to 3pm on Saturday 19 September 2026. Booking is not required and the event is free.

The Acorn Bank Watermill Trust is celebrating progress on the restoration of the mill's second waterwheel. Visitors can see the working watermill in action, including the second wheel being brought back to life after a gap of nearly 100 years.

What can you do?

• see the working watermill and restoration progress;
• hear stories about people who lived and worked on the estate;
• buy wholemeal flour freshly milled on site;
• try samples of baked produce;
• make flour using a hand quern;
• join family activity at the art table.

Arrival

Go first to the Acorn Bank Welcome Hut, where staff will explain how to reach the mill and current visitor route.

Children and accessibility

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. The event listing directs visitors to Acorn Bank's main accessibility information. The route to the mill uses estate and woodland paths, so contact the property before travelling if a step-free route or another specific adjustment is essential.

What else is open?

The gardens, café and second-hand bookshop are due to open as normal. The Acorn Bank Apple Weekends tasting programme also runs from 11am to 3pm, making 19 September one of the strongest autumn dates to visit.

The watermill event is run by the Acorn Bank Watermill Trust rather than the National Trust.
