Westmorland County Show returns to Crooklands on Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 September 2026, bringing two full days of livestock competitions, rural crafts, food, shopping and countryside entertainment to Lane Farm near Milnthorpe.

Westmorland County Show is one of Cumbria's largest agricultural events. Its focus remains firmly on farming, livestock and the countryside, while also offering food, shopping, demonstrations and family activities.

Are both show days the same?
The show runs from 8am to 6pm on both Wednesday and Thursday, and admission prices are currently the same for each day. However, livestock sections, competitions and arena activity can differ between days.

Is the show suitable for families?
Yes. The show combines animals, demonstrations, food, shopping and countryside activities, and children under five enter free. The family ticket covers two adults and up to three children aged 5 to 15.
A quiet area is available for baby changing and feeding. Busy animal areas, machinery displays and large crowds mean children should remain closely supervised throughout the day.
Parking and driving directions
All show-day parking is free. The organiser's most important instruction is to follow the County Show signs rather than satellite navigation.
Temporary traffic arrangements are designed to manage the large number of vehicles approaching the rural showground. Delays are possible at peak arrival and departure times.
From the M6 northbound
Leave the motorway at junction 35, follow the A601(M) towards Carnforth, Morecambe and the A6, then follow show signage towards the A6070 and the designated car parks.
From the M6 southbound
Leave at junction 36 and follow the County Show signs.
From Kendal and the central Lake District
From the A591, leave at Brettagh Holt or Sizergh, follow the A590 towards Barrow and then travel via the A6 through Milnthorpe, following the temporary show signs.
From Kirkby Lonsdale
Follow the A65 towards M6 junction 36 and then follow show signage towards Crooklands.
From Barrow and the Furness area
Leave the A590 at Levens Bridge, follow the A6 through Milnthorpe and then follow the County Show signs.
Free bus from Kendal
The official visitor page confirms that a free bus operates from Kendal to the showground for the County Show.
However, the page was still displaying the 2025 bus timetable when checked on 6 August 2026 and stated that the 2026 version would be published separately. Do not plan a 2026 journey around the old timetable. Recheck the official visitor page before travelling.
Travelling by train
Oxenholme Lake District is the nearest railway station, approximately five miles from the showground. Taxis are normally available from the station, but demand is likely to be higher during the show.
Book onward transport in advance where possible and allow extra time for traffic near Crooklands.
Accessibility
The show takes place at a rural outdoor venue, so grass, uneven surfaces and the weather can affect movement around the site.

Can dogs attend?
Dogs are allowed but must remain on a short fixed lead and under control at all times. They are not permitted inside some marquees, including the Food Hall and Poultry Marquee.
The event can be crowded, noisy and tiring for animals. Bring water, avoid leaving a dog in a vehicle and consider whether a full day at a busy agricultural show is suitable for your pet.
