Major refurbishment planned
The new owner intends to refurbish bedrooms, public areas and guest facilities and reposition the property as a four-star hotel. A detailed phasing and completion timetable has not yet been published.
The hotel is not being presented by Cumbria Guru as closed. Guests booking during the redevelopment period should check directly with the hotel for any works that could affect their stay.
Former Keswick railway station café proposal
The hotel property includes the historic former Keswick railway station beside the Keswick to Threlkeld trail. The Kronen Collection intends to convert the station into a café, subject to planning permission.
This is a proposal, not an open café. There is no confirmed planning outcome, trading name, opening date, menu or timetable. Do not travel to the station expecting a new café to be operating.
Staying at the hotel
The established hotel has 73 bedrooms together with restaurant, bar and lounge spaces, function facilities, grounds and on-site parking. Room types, dining arrangements, packages and prices vary by date.
Location
The hotel is on Station Road, Keswick, CA12 4NQ, beside the former railway alignment and close to the start of the Keswick to Threlkeld trail.
What changes next?
The September 2026 sale is the beginning of a longer transformation. Cumbria Guru will track the refurbishment programme, any temporary guest restrictions, the four-star repositioning and future planning for the proposed station café.
Our local note
A major Keswick hotel entering a new chapter under The Kronen Collection. The £8m acquisition brings a substantial refurbishment and four-star repositioning plan, while a café in the former railway station is only a proposal subject to planning and should not yet be treated as somewhere to visit.
