We had Lake District Hotels vouchers from my birthday and our wedding anniversary, so we decided to put them to very good use at Mizu!
The lunch menu was £38 for two courses, with the option to add a third course for an extra £10.
🍤 Mini Guru started with the Prawn Spring Roll, served with Asian spicy peanut sauce and tonkatsu sauce with chilli, followed by the Korean Crispy Fried Chicken Burger with mixed leaves, spicy sriracha chilli mayonnaise, Asian slaw and salt & pepper fries.
🍣 Mrs Guru chose the Chef’s Sushi Selection, three pieces from Mizu’s fresh sushi selection, followed by the Vietnamese Chicken, a spicy marinated grilled chicken breast with fresh salad, glass noodles and Vietnamese spiced yoghurt sauce.
🔥 Mr Guru went for the alternative Sticks Platter + Dessert. The platter included one stick each of rock prawn tempura, grilled salmon, char-grilled beef sirloin, sticky pork belly, Thai pork fillet, chicken balls and spicy Asian sausage, served with sesame seed sauce and tonkatsu sauce.
Then came the Chocolate Lava Cake with hot chocolate sauce, chocolate cookie crumble and Madagascan bourbon vanilla ice cream.
And naturally, we washed the lot down with three pints of Diet Coke.
Everything was incredibly fresh and full of flavour. Add in brilliant company, glorious Lake District weather, beautiful views and the Borrowdale setting and it was a pretty special way to spend our vouchers.
Mizu is already one of our favourite Pan-Asian restaurants in the Lakes, and this visit certainly didn’t change that.

The menu brings together Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and wider South-East Asian influences. Expect sushi and sashimi, tempura, gyoza, ramen, curries, grilled sticks, larger plates and sharing platters. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices are clearly represented, while tasting menus offer a longer experience for special occasions.
Mizu also serves a Pan-Asian afternoon tea and a dedicated lunch menu. The restaurant is open daily, but the menu changes across the day: lunch and afternoon tea are available from noon, with the main menu served at lunch and again in the evening. Booking ahead is strongly recommended, particularly for weekends, spa breaks and larger groups.
Free hotel parking is available across the road, with disabled bays at the hotel entrance. Guests should tell the restaurant about allergies, access requirements or dietary needs when booking.

For me one of the best places to eat and impress loved ones in Western Cumbria. Great setting, food and staff. 🤫
We recently visited Mizu Pan Asian Restaurant at the Lodore Hotel near Keswick. Mrs Guru has tried to persuade the fussy Mr Guru for a long time and she finally succeed. It was a warm sunny day so a table outside it had to be. The interior of the restaurant was very modern and clean but you can’t beat eating amazing food whilst look at the Lake District surroundings. Even though he is a little bit fussy with his food there was plenty on the menu. Mr Guru had the 1 Sticks Platter, Mrs Guru went for the Sushi and Sticks Platter and Mini Guru was all for the Tempura Prawns. A few sides of sticky rice, steamed bao buns and salad added to the experience. It was chance to try our our chopstick technique. Knife and fork available on the table too. The food was fresh and tasty and certainly enough to eat. Although Mr Guru would have happily had 2 of each stick. Lemonades and mocktails washed it all down. We couldn’t say no to dessert could we? Mr and Mini Guru went for the Chocolate Lava Cake and Mrs Guru went for the Vanilla Crèm Brûlée. Service was quick and with a smile and even with a £25 gift voucher the overall cost was reasonable. We will be visiting again!
Being a fussy eater I was always a bit reluctant to try Mizu. Having seen that they just launched a new menu I though now was the time to bite the bullet. WOW! The food was so amazing. Something for everyone and I think the price was reasonable for the experience. I will return!
