About Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa
Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa is a historic country-house retreat in a spectacular setting beside Bassenthwaite Lake, around a 20-minute drive from Keswick. The hotel sits within 400 acres of private woodland, gardens and parkland, with views towards the lake and surrounding fells. Its 41 individually designed bedrooms and suites range from Club and Deluxe rooms to lake-view rooms, family accommodation, Garden and Estate Suites and spacious Studio Suites. Room styles, outlooks and accessibility vary, so it is worth checking the exact category before booking. Check-in is from 3pm and rooms should normally be vacated by 11am. The award-winning spa is spread across two floors and includes a 16-metre indoor infinity-edge pool, indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pools, thermal experiences, a sauna, steam room, gym, exercise studio, treatment rooms and dedicated relaxation areas.

Residential guests can use the spa from check-in until check-out. Children under 16 may use the indoor pool between 8am and 9.30am when accompanied by an adult. Treatments and spa-day experiences should be booked in advance. Dining ranges from the oak-panelled Lake View Restaurant to The Grill, afternoon tea, the Cocktail Bar and Zaika, the hotel's refined Indian restaurant. Non-residents are welcome, but advance reservations are strongly recommended. The Lake View Restaurant requests smart-casual evening dress. The estate offers pre-bookable experiences including archery, clay pigeon shooting, birds of prey, paddleboarding, photography, forest bathing, wild swimming and guided fell walks. The Lake District Wildlife Park is also located on the estate, making the hotel a particularly strong choice for families and longer stays. Selected ground-floor rooms welcome dogs, with a maximum of two dogs per room and a nightly charge; pets are not permitted in public rooms or the spa. Free on-site parking is available for up to 80 cars, alongside reserved accessible spaces and electric vehicle charging. Guests with specific mobility or room-access requirements should contact the hotel before booking.
Our local note
One of the northern Lake District's strongest destination hotels, especially for spa breaks, romantic stays and activity-filled family escapes. The estate setting is the standout feature, but book dining, treatments and activities early to get the most from your visit.
