Worth It

A distinctive first-year UK event. The £160 ticket includes a broad weekend package, but you still need a suitable bike or hire, camping kit and most meals.

Lake to Fell takes place at Hollows Farm in Borrowdale on 12 and 13 September 2026 and is the first UK edition of Montbell's event inspired by its Japanese SEA TO SUMMIT series.

It is not a race: there is no timing and no tracking.

Saturday

The Nature Sessions begin from 2pm with talks and workshops about Lakeland environment, culture and landscape, followed by the opening programme and a catered camp cookout.

Sunday challenge

Starts are staggered according to predicted finishing time. Organisers expect everybody to be off the course by 3pm.

Route

  • 1km paddle from Lodore Boat Landing to High Brandlehow Landing
  • 8km hike/run over Maiden Moor towards Hollows Farm
  • 25km road/gravel cycle alongside Derwentwater and over Whinlatter

The full route is approximately 35km, with waymarking, marshals, three checkpoints and one aid station.

Tickets

The live general-admission price is £160. The page still records an earlier £130 early-bird tier, but £160 is the current purchase price.

Included

  • Saturday-night camping
  • watercraft hire
  • Nature Sessions
  • Sunday challenge
  • route map and transitions
  • marshals and medical support

Bike

Mountain, gravel or hybrid bikes are recommended. The organiser says the route is not suitable for a pure road bike. Helmets are mandatory and e-bikes are allowed.

Watercraft

Do not bring your own. Canoes, kayaks and dragon boats are supplied, together with mandatory buoyancy aids.

Age

18+ can enter independently. Ages 13+ need a full-price ticket. Under-13s may attend free but cannot participate in the challenge.

Travel

Hollows Farm is at Grange, Keswick CA12 5UQ. The organiser publishes ///crust.water.airstrip. Public-transport advice is Penrith rail station, X4/X5 to Keswick and route 78 into Borrowdale.

Safety

All entrants attend a safety briefing and sign a waiver. The route may be shortened or redirected due to weather, access restrictions or safety concerns.

Accessibility

This is a demanding outdoor multisport event. Participants should contact the organiser before booking if they require specific access support.

Weather plan

The organiser may shorten or reroute the challenge because of weather or access conditions.
