Lake to Fell is new to the UK in 2026, but its format comes from Montbell's Japanese SEA TO SUMMIT series.
The weekend
Saturday starts from 2pm with Nature Sessions, opening activity and a catered camp cookout. Sunday is the untimed challenge with staggered starts.
The 35km route
Paddle: about 1km, Lodore to High Brandlehow.
Hike/run: about 8km over Maiden Moor.
Bike: about 25km on roads and gravel, including Whinlatter.
Ticket
The live price is £160. This includes Saturday camping, supplied watercraft and buoyancy equipment, Nature Sessions, challenge support, Saturday dinner, parking and a goodie bag.
What you still need
You need camping gear, most meals and a suitable bike or paid bike hire. Extra nights must be booked directly with Hollows Farm.
Bike choice
Use a gravel, mountain or capable hybrid bike. A pure road bike is specifically described as unsuitable. Helmets are mandatory. E-bikes are allowed.
Do not bring a kayak
Personal watercraft are not permitted. The organisers provide canoes, kayaks and dragon boats.
Age rules
18+ can enter independently. Ages 13-17 can participate under the family rules but need a full-price ticket. Under-13s may attend free but cannot take part in the Sunday challenge.
Getting there
Base camp is Hollows Farm, Grange, Keswick CA12 5UQ. For public transport, use Penrith station, X4/X5 to Keswick and route 78 into Borrowdale.
Safety
There are marshals, three checkpoints and one basic-refreshment aid station. Everybody receives a safety briefing and the organisers may change the route for weather or access reasons.
Is £160 worth it?
If you only want a 35km training day, probably not. If you want the whole supported weekend with environmental sessions, camping, supplied boats and catered Saturday evening, the package is much easier to justify.
