Ravenglass is the Lake District National Park’s coastal village, set where three rivers meet the sea and known for Roman remains, estuary views and a heritage railway into Eskdale.
The village has a long history as a port and Roman settlement. The surviving Roman bath house is among the most significant remains in northern England, while the shoreline and old streets reveal its later maritime character.
Ravenglass is also the starting point for the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, providing a memorable journey into the western fells. Muncaster, Eskdale, coastal walks and wildlife make the village an excellent base for a varied day or short break.
