The village has a long history as a port and Roman settlement. The surviving Roman bath house is among the most significant remains in northern England, while the shoreline and old streets reveal its later maritime character.
Ravenglass is also the starting point for the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, providing a memorable journey into the western fells. Muncaster, Eskdale, coastal walks and wildlife make the village an excellent base for a varied day or short break.

Getting there
Ravenglass is on the A595 and has a station on the Cumbrian Coast Line, directly beside the heritage railway terminus. This makes it one of the western Lakes’ easiest car-free destinations.
