Wings Over Windermere takes place on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September 2026. The key thing to understand is that this is a short historic flying demonstration, not an all-afternoon airshow.

When should you arrive?
Aim to be parked and on the lawn before 6.30pm. Because the Waterbird sequence is deliberately brief, arriving at 6.45pm risks missing the most important part.
Where should you watch?
Use the official lawns at Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa, LA23 1LP. The location gives the intended view towards the Langdale Pikes and access to toilets, food and event parking.
What will Waterbird do?
The aircraft takes off from Windermere, climbs only to a low height, flies along the lake and returns to the water. There are no aerobatics.
Parking
Free event parking runs from 5.30pm to 9pm at the Woodland Car Park. Do not treat lay-bys on the A591 as overflow event parking.
Accessibility
The viewing lawn is level and seating is available for people with mobility difficulties. Toilets are at the Water Sports Centre.
Food and drink
Refreshments will be available to buy at Low Wood Bay.
Weather
This is the biggest planning risk. A calm-looking evening does not guarantee suitable aviation conditions. Check the official Waterbird flight status before leaving home.
Photography
A longer lens will be more useful than phone zoom. For a distinctly Lake District image, include more of the Langdale backdrop rather than cropping tightly around the aircraft.
