Whitehaven Weekender arrives at Whitehaven Harbourside on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August 2026, bringing together live music, outdoor theatre, circus, family activities, street food and Pride celebrations for a new two-day August Bank Holiday festival.
The event is being delivered through a partnership between Rosehill Arts Trust, Northern Equality and Diversity CIC and Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners. Saturday is built around outdoor arts and family-friendly entertainment across the waterfront, while Sunday becomes Pride By The Harbourside, with a Pride parade and a main music arena headlined by Vengaboys.
Most of the weekend is free and open access. The only part currently requiring a ticket is the Sunday Main Arena. Arena tickets are free, with a £3.50 booking fee.

What is Whitehaven Weekender?
Whitehaven Weekender is a new festival that brings together the teams and ideas behind Harbour Fest and Pride By The Harbourside into one August Bank Holiday weekend.
Rather than concentrating everything on one conventional festival stage, much of Saturday is designed to be discovered while moving around the harbour. Outdoor theatre, circus, comedy, live music, walkabout acts and creative activities will appear across the waterfront.
Sunday has a different feel. Pride By The Harbourside takes centre stage, with the annual Pride parade followed by a ticketed Main Arena programme and six hours of Main Stage music from 1pm to 7pm.
Saturday 29 August: outdoor theatre, circus and family entertainment
Saturday runs from 11am to 5pm. There is no Main Stage on Saturday. Instead, the programme is spread around the harbourside and encourages visitors to wander between performances and activities.
Justice in Motion: CODE
CODE is an outdoor production combining physical theatre, parkour, aerial acrobatics and live music. It is one of the more visually ambitious performances announced for the Saturday programme.
Fabularium: There Be Monsters!
There Be Monsters! is a roaming theatrical adventure inspired by Don Quixote and Sancha Panza. The production is planned across five harbour locations, making it a performance to follow rather than watch from one fixed stage.
Levantes Dance Theatre: High Tea (With A Twist!)
High Tea (With A Twist!) mixes aerial circus and theatre, with professional performers appearing alongside a community cast.
Bread and Butter Theatre: The Van Dunk Brothers
The Van Dunk Brothers bring dry-land synchronised swimming to the harbour. Expect comedy, swimming caps, goggles and a routine that does not require anyone to get into the Irish Sea.
Fairly Famous Family: Liver Cottage Mobile Kitchen
The Liver Cottage Mobile Kitchen is a travelling comedy cooking show built around audience participation and deliberately questionable recipes.
Live music and walkabout entertainment
RockWith at The Hub will showcase live local artists from across Cumbria. Elsewhere, The Vortexes, giant stilt-walking jellyfish, will move through the harbour during the day.
Handpicked Productions will also provide family activities including giant flower-head hat making and self-guided games, alongside stalls and other attractions around the event site.
Sunday 30 August: Pride By The Harbourside
Sunday becomes Pride By The Harbourside, combining the annual Pride parade with a Main Arena programme of music and performances.
The Pride parade starts at 12.15pm from Queen's Dock and will march to the Main Arena. The official Sunday arena ticket is listed from 12 noon, while NEAD confirms that the Main Stage runs from 1pm until 7pm.
