About Wainwrights' Inn
Wainwrights' Inn is a traditional Lakeland pub in Chapel Stile, a gentle walk from the Langdale Estate and a useful stop for walkers exploring Great Langdale.
The building has had several lives, including use as a farmhouse, a gunpowder-factory manager's house, a petrol station and a hotel. Today the emphasis is firmly on relaxed pub hospitality, with local and regional ales, wines and other drinks alongside a hearty menu with a strong Cumbrian flavour.

Food and drink
Drinks are served daily from noon until 11pm. The main menu is available daily from noon until 9pm, with sandwiches and some lighter options available earlier in the day. The menu includes pub classics, vegetarian and vegan dishes, children's choices and a Sunday roast while available.
Do I need to book?
Wainwrights' Inn does not take table bookings. Seating is first come, first served, so arrive earlier at popular meal times, during school holidays and on busy walking weekends.
Events
The pub hosts live music and other events during the year, including the Langdale Live Family Festival. A regular quiz is also promoted by the venue, although one-off schedule changes can occur.
Dogs and families
The venue is family friendly and well-behaved dogs are welcome in the event information published for Langdale Live. Check the current venue policy if a particular seating area is important.

Wainwrights' Inn is in Chapel Stile in the Great Langdale valley. It works well as a food-and-drink stop before or after walking around Elterwater, Chapel Stile and the wider Langdale fells.

A strong post-walk pub in Chapel Stile with proper Cumbrian character, daily food and local ales. The no-booking policy makes timing important: arrive before the busiest lunch and evening periods if getting a table matters.

Such a nice location. A shame that there was no space for us. Had to wait.
