The London House
A family-run village pub on Duddon Road with cask ale, a real fire, sports TV, pool and darts, a garden and a dog-friendly welcome.
About The London House
The London House is a traditional family-run village pub at 90 Duddon Road in Askam-in-Furness. CAMRA's Furness branch describes a friendly local that also welcomes visitors from the nearby coast, caravan sites and golf course. Inside, the main bar has a real wood-burning stove and there are two further rooms, including a games room with a pool table. Sport is shown on television, while the pub also lists darts and other pub games. A changing cask ale is normally available, so the exact beer on the handpump can vary from visit to visit. The pub has a garden and is listed as both family friendly and dog friendly. Regular social events include quiz and bingo nights, although event dates can move and are best checked with the pub before travelling specifically for one.

Askam railway station and nearby bus stops are around a short walk away, making The London House straightforward to combine with a car-free visit to the village or a walk towards the Duddon Estuary. Current published opening is Thursday 17:00-20:00, Friday and Saturday 15:00-23:00, and Sunday 15:00-20:00, with Monday to Wednesday closed. Independent pub hours can change for holidays, events and quieter periods, so check the latest Facebook update before making a special journey.
Our local note
A proper village-pub stop for a pint and a chat, with cask ale, games, sport and a real fire rather than a polished chain-pub feel. The restricted early-week opening is worth checking before you go.
