Oscar’s Restaurant at Abbey House
The Rosette-acclaimed restaurant at Abbey House Hotel, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea with a heated terrace overlooking the hotel grounds.
About Oscar’s Restaurant at Abbey House
Oscar’s is the main bar and restaurant at Abbey House Hotel & Gardens, close to Furness Abbey on the outskirts of Barrow-in-Furness. It is one of the area’s stronger special-occasion dining choices, combining a hotel restaurant setting with landscaped grounds and a heated outdoor terrace.
The restaurant is Rosette-acclaimed and focuses on a broad hotel dining offer rather than one narrow cuisine. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, alongside afternoon tea, with an extensive wine selection and cocktails. The heated al-fresco terrace adds a particularly attractive option in suitable weather and can also be used for private hire.

Current breakfast is 6am to 10am Monday to Friday and 7am to 10.30am at weekends. Lunch runs Monday to Saturday from noon to 3.30pm and Sunday to 4pm. Dinner is served from 5.30pm on Monday to Saturday and from 6pm on Sunday, with the latest finish currently 9.30pm on Friday and Saturday.
Afternoon tea is available daily from noon to 4pm but requires 24 hours’ notice. Booking is sensible for weekend evenings, celebrations and afternoon tea, particularly when the hotel is hosting weddings or larger events.
Our local note
A strong choice for a smarter meal, afternoon tea or dinner near Furness Abbey. The gardens and terrace make it feel more like an occasion than most central Barrow restaurants.
