About Light & Salt Provisions

Light & Salt Provisions is a community eatery opening at The Railway Inn in Lindal-in-Furness. The social-enterprise project is being developed as more than a conventional restaurant, with food, events, fundraising and community support all forming part of the plan.

The kitchen intends to focus on traceable local produce, including meat sourced with clear information about where it has come from. Alongside its regular food offer, Light & Salt has announced plans for monthly pay-what-you-can Sunday lunches, designed to make a good meal accessible regardless of a customer's circumstances.

The Railway Inn is at 6 London Road in Lindal-in-Furness, between Barrow and Ulverston. The venue has previously traded as a pub and restaurant and is being reworked for the new community-led concept.

The business is targeting a summer 2026 opening, but a final public launch date, regular menu and weekly opening hours are still to be confirmed. Check the official website before travelling, particularly for launch events, fundraising meals and limited-capacity community sessions.

Our local note

A genuinely interesting Furness opening with a stronger community purpose than the average restaurant. Add it to the watchlist now and check the launch date before planning a visit.
