About INDUSTRY | COFFEE + KITCHEN

INDUSTRY | COFFEE + KITCHEN is an independent café at 71 Risedale Road in Barrow-in-Furness, built around its deliberately bold ‘Small Town. Big Plates.’ identity. It is best known for breakfast, brunch and lunch-style dining rather than formal evening service.

The café has strong county-wide credentials. Industry Kitchen won Café of the Year at the 2023 Cumbria Food Awards, and it returned as a finalist in the same category at the 2025 awards. The University of Cumbria highlights its use of fresh local ingredients across colourful breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes.

It is a strong choice for visitors who want somewhere more individual than a national coffee chain, particularly for a substantial breakfast or daytime meal. Risedale Road is south-east of the main town centre, so it can also work well before or after trips towards Roose, Furness Abbey and the wider Furness Peninsula.

Menus and opening times can change, so check the latest information before making a special journey.

The Cumbria Guru verdict

Our local note

One of Barrow’s strongest independent daytime food picks, especially for a big breakfast or brunch. The Cumbria Food Awards recognition gives it genuine county-level credibility.
