About Earnse Bay
Earnse Bay gives Barrow-in-Furness something its visitor coverage often undersells: a genuinely open, wild-feeling stretch of coast. The sand-and-shingle beach lies on the western side of Walney Island, between West Shore Caravan Park and Furness Golf Club.
The exposed position brings broad views towards the Irish Sea, with distant views towards the Isle of Man and the Lake District fells in suitable conditions. It is popular for beach walks, sunsets and watersports, particularly when wind and sea conditions suit experienced participants.

Earnse Bay is not a managed resort beach with a long list of visitor attractions. Its appeal is space, coast and weather. Visitors should therefore bring what they need, check tide and forecast conditions and avoid assuming facilities, lifeguard cover or safe swimming conditions are available.
Keep dogs and people under control around wildlife and other beach users, take litter home and use established access points. Anyone planning kitesurfing or other watersports should assess conditions and use appropriate equipment and local expertise.

A brilliant antidote to the idea that Barrow is only docks and industry. Earnse Bay is about huge skies, sea air, sunsets and a proper sense of the Furness coast.
