Worth It
A high-value seasonal addition for Beatrix Potter fans, especially because it brings original material and the restored dolls' house together inside Hill Top itself.
Pets to Page: The Tale of Two Bad Mice runs at Hill Top from 15 August to 13 December 2026 on the property's operating days. The display explores how Beatrix Potter drew inspiration from pets, people and objects around her. It includes manuscript material, original sketches, final artworks and dolls' accessories associated with The Tale of Two Bad Mice. The centrepiece is Beatrix Potter's recently restored dolls' house, with interactive lighting and conservation interpretation. Projected animations and a modern dolls' house add further family interest. There is no separate event charge, but normal Hill Top admission applies. The display is on the upper floor of the historic house and there is no wheelchair or step-free access to that floor. Hill Top's current main visitor guidance says pre-booking is required for everyone, including National Trust members. Opening times change later in the season. Check the live Hill Top calendar and booking availability for your chosen date.
Accessibility
The display is on the upper floor. There is no wheelchair or step-free access to that floor. Braille and large-print guides, ear defenders and a tactile tour are available.
Weather plan
Primarily indoors, but access includes outdoor historic paths which can be uneven and weather affected.
