Portinscale is a peaceful village just outside Keswick, with footpaths to Derwentwater, boat access and excellent routes towards Catbells and the Newlands Valley.
Its position on the western side of the River Derwent gives Portinscale quick access to the lake while remaining quieter than Keswick town centre. Marinas, woodland and nearby estates add variety to local walks.
The village is a strong base for Catbells, Lingholm, Newlands and the western shore of Derwentwater. Visitors can walk into Keswick, use a launch service or spend a full day exploring without moving the car.
