Taste Cumbria Christmas Comedy Night 2026: Line-Up, Tickets and Parking

Kate Smurthwaite, Jacob Nussey, Eden Voss and Eddy Brimson at Jennings Brewery

Confirmed 7 November 2026: An evening of stand-up comedy has joined Cockermouth's Taste Cumbria Christmas weekend. Tickets are on sale for Saturday 5 December 2026 at The Maltings, Jennings Brewery, with four named comedians, doors at 6pm and a 7pm start. General admission to the wider Taste Cumbria Christmas festival on 5 and 6 December remains free, but the comedy show is a separately ticketed, over-18s event.

The most important travel detail is easy to miss: the organiser says there will be no parking at Jennings Brewery for Comedy Night. Cockermouth's usual driving approach may also be affected by festival preparations. Here is what to know before booking or travelling.

Who's performing at the Taste Cumbria comedy night?

Kate Smurthwaite hosts the evening. A stand-up performer, writer and science-show presenter, she brings a lively, socially observant perspective to the stage. The programme also features Jacob Nussey, whose understated delivery contrasts with sharp punchlines and personal mishaps; Eden Voss, known for a darker comic outlook and recognition on the new-act circuit; and Eddy Brimson, the closing performer, whose work spans stand-up, books about football culture and television appearances.

This is the confirmed line-up rather than a minute-by-minute running order. The organiser has not published exact individual set times or a finish time. If you are arranging a taxi, lifts or a restaurant booking afterwards, avoid assuming the show ends at a particular hour.

Tickets: what does £12.50 include?

The organiser lists Comedy Night tickets at £12.50 each and says tickets are non-refundable. Use the official Comedy Night booking page for live availability and any checkout information. The brewery bar will be open; food, drinks and other festival activities should not be assumed included in the comedy ticket.

Taste Cumbria Christmas itself is a free-entry food and drink festival across Cockermouth on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December. Some bookable extras have their own charges, including this show, a Supper Club and a Q&A featuring author M. W. Craven and broadcaster Val Armstrong. Think of the comedy ticket as one activity within a wider town-centre weekend, not an entry fee for the market.

Parking at Jennings Brewery: important special arrangements

The official booking page is explicit that there is no car parking at Jennings Brewery for Comedy Night. It directs drivers to the Bitterbeck and Riverside car parks, near Market Place. Because the festival is being prepared, the organiser says access to these car parks will be via Castlegate Drive and advises approaching via Isel or Embleton, following directions for CA13 9NR. This is the organiser's event-specific routing advice, not a guarantee that every usual street or car park entrance will be accessible.

See the Bitterbeck Car Park guide for normal tariffs and facilities, but check signs and official traffic instructions on the day. Avoid heading directly to the brewery in the hope of on-site parking, and leave extra time for short walks from town-centre car parks. Visitors who cannot walk far should contact the organiser about accessible drop-off arrangements before purchasing a ticket.

What to wear and what is the venue like?

The Maltings is a working brewery space, not a conventional heated theatre. The organiser says some heating will be provided but explicitly recommends wearing layers. Dress for a December evening and allow for queues, short outdoor walks and changing temperatures. The brewery bar is expected to operate. Seating layout, accessible facilities, step-free arrangements and any assistance requirements should be checked directly with Taste Cumbria, as the booking page does not give a complete access specification.

Make a Cockermouth weekend of it

The value of this event is its location within a larger festival. Spend the day sampling independent Cumbrian producers, browsing the town centre and visiting shops before returning for the evening performance. If you are staying overnight, choose accommodation within sensible walking distance of Market Place or plan your late-night transport in advance.
