Borrowdale Hotel's All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Carvery: Prices, Times and What to Expect

The Borrowdale Valley hotel serves its new unlimited Sunday carvery every week, with Cumbrian beef, Lakeland chicken and traditional trimmings.

The Borrowdale Hotel is serving an all-you-can-eat Sunday carvery in the heart of the Borrowdale Valley, giving locals and Lake District visitors another option for a traditional Sunday lunch near Keswick.

The weekly carvery is served every Sunday from 12pm to 4pm in the hotel's restaurant. It launched on 29 March 2026 and the hotel's current event listing runs through 7 November 2026.

Prices are currently £32 for two courses or £39 for three courses, with children under 12 charged half price.

What is included in the all-you-can-eat carvery?

The main event is the roast, with guests able to return to the carvery for seconds.

The hotel highlights slow-roasted Cumbrian beef sirloin, herb-roasted Lakeland chicken, Yorkshire puddings, seasonal vegetables, salads and traditional accompaniments. The exact menu can change from week to week.

Starters and desserts are served from the kitchen. Examples promoted for the launch have included Cumbrian leek and new potato soup, smoked haddock and dill fishcakes, sticky toffee pudding and lemon posset.

The all-you-can-eat element applies to the carvery, with the hotel explicitly saying diners are welcome to return for seconds.

How much does it cost?

The current advertised prices are:

  • Two courses: £32
  • Three courses: £39
  • Children under 12: half price

The hotel recommends booking and offers online reservations. Tables can also be booked by calling 017687 77224.

When is it served?

Sunday Carvery Lunch is served from 12pm until 4pm.

The current Lake District Hotels event listing describes it as a weekly Sunday event running from 29 March until 7 November 2026.

That makes it an option throughout the main Lake District visitor season, including the summer holidays and autumn walking period.

Where is The Borrowdale Hotel?

The Borrowdale Hotel is on the B5289 in Borrowdale Valley, Keswick, CA12 5UY, around three miles south of Keswick.

Its position makes the carvery particularly convenient for a Sunday lunch combined with a day around Borrowdale and Derwentwater.

Popular nearby destinations include Derwentwater, Lodore, the Bowder Stone and walks throughout the Borrowdale Valley.

Visitors travelling without a car can also check the current Keswick to Borrowdale bus services before setting out.

Can non-residents eat at the hotel?

Yes. The Borrowdale Hotel promotes its restaurant to both hotel residents and other diners, and the Sunday carvery can be booked as a standalone meal.

The hotel serves food throughout the day in several settings, including its restaurant, bar, lounges and conservatory.

Dogs are not permitted in the main restaurant, but the hotel says dog owners can dine with their dogs in the lounges or conservatory. Anyone specifically wanting the Sunday carvery with a dog should confirm the current arrangements when booking.

A Sunday lunch option after exploring Borrowdale

The location is a major part of the appeal.

Borrowdale is one of the Lake District's best-known walking valleys, while Derwentwater and Keswick are close by. That makes the hotel a practical stopping point after a morning walk or as part of a relaxed Sunday drive through the valley.

The hotel's all-you-can-eat format is also a little different from its longstanding traditional dining. Lake District Hotels says the weekly carvery was introduced in spring 2026 as a new version of the hotel's long-established Sunday lunch tradition.
