Traveller's Rest Inn

Traveller’s Rest is a traditional Lakeland coaching inn on the A591 just north of Grasmere village. The building dates to the sixteenth century and retains the kind of features visitors hope to find in an old fell-country pub, including beams, inglenooks and fires in colder weather, with outdoor space and views when conditions are better.

The bar and restaurant serve a broad pub menu with local and regional dishes, real ales, wine and whisky. Ten en-suite letting bedrooms turn it into a practical base as well as a meal stop, particularly for walkers heading towards Helm Crag, Easedale and the northern side of the village.

It sits outside the compact village centre, so check the walking route if arriving on foot after dark. Food service, room rates and seasonal arrangements change, and accommodation is popular, so book ahead where a stay or specific meal time matters.
