About The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel
The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel is one of Barrow-in-Furness’s best-known town-centre hotels, occupying a handsome Victorian building on Abbey Road around two minutes’ walk from the railway station. The hotel has been extensively refurbished and now combines 51 en-suite bedrooms with a busy bar, restaurant and function spaces.
Rooms range from more compact Standard rooms to larger Superior and Executive options. The hotel highlights oversized beds, designer bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, room service and flat-screen televisions across its accommodation, with some rooms also offering air conditioning. A two-bedroom family room is available for visitors who need a more flexible layout.

One of the strongest practical advantages is the private residents’ car park, located around 30 metres from the entrance. Guests should collect and display the required parking permit when checking in. The hotel is also particularly convenient for rail arrivals because Barrow station is close by.
Direct booking currently comes with complimentary breakfast and the hotel advertises its lowest available room rate through its own website. The bar and restaurant operate separately from the accommodation and are popular in their own right, so booking a table can be sensible at busy times.
Our local note
Probably the strongest independent town-centre all-rounder: station convenience, private parking, proper food and drink and much more character than a budget chain.
