About The Old Posting House
The Old Posting House is a centuries-old coaching inn at Deanscales, around three miles south-west of Cockermouth. Today it combines a traditional pub, a food-led restaurant and bed-and-breakfast accommodation, giving visitors a rural alternative to staying in the town centre.
The restaurant focuses on straightforward seasonal pub cooking using regional suppliers where possible, while the bar serves beers, wines, spirits and gins. Guest rooms include en-suite bathrooms, Wi-Fi and on-site parking, with dog-friendly arrangements available subject to the current policy.
The A5086 position works particularly well for reaching Loweswater, Ennerdale and the western Lake District. It is not a walkable town-centre stay, so having your own transport is the practical choice. Restaurant bookings are advisable at busy times.
