About Hammond's Pond

Hammond's Pond is a well-used public park in south Carlisle with a broad mix of family, sport and community facilities. Flat accessible paths provide circular routes around the park, supported by two free car parks and public toilets.

Facilities include children's play areas, full-size and junior football pitches, an all-weather multi-use games area, a miniature railway operated seasonally by Carlisle and District Model Engineering Society, and a skatepark that officially opened in April 2026. The children's play and games areas have also received recent accessibility and surface improvements. The park café reopened under new local management in July 2026, serving drinks, snacks and locally sourced products while developing a wider food and community offer. Check seasonal railway, café and event information before making a special journey.

Our local note

A useful free family destination for play, skating, sport and an accessible park walk, now strengthened by the reopened café and recent investment.
