About Blackwell, the Arts & Crafts house

Blackwell is a Grade I listed Arts and Crafts house on the southern edge of Bowness-on-Windermere. Designed by M H Baillie Scott, the house is known for its carefully crafted interiors, decorative plasterwork, stained glass, woodwork, furniture and views across Windermere and the surrounding fells.

A visit can include the historic rooms, changing displays, gardens, tearoom and contemporary craft shop. Free on-site parking is available. The modern visitor route is largely accessible, with designated parking, step-free access and a lift, although some parts of the historic building include steps. Check current admission, exhibition, access and assistance-dog information before travelling, particularly when a specific room or facility is essential.
