The tower is normally closed outside selected volunteer openings, so this is a useful chance to see inside rather than simply viewing it from Market Place.
What is it?
Dalton Castle was the manorial courthouse of Furness Abbey, where the abbots exercised judicial authority over the surrounding lordship.
Accessibility
There are three stone steps at the entrance and 18 steps to the first floor, with narrow doorways and limited turning space.
Combine with Furness Abbey
The Furness Abbey Medieval Fair runs 10am-5pm the same day. Visit the abbey in the morning and Dalton Castle from 2pm.
