Inn on the Square in Keswick could gain a rooftop spa and outdoor swimming pool under plans now being considered by the Lake District National Park Authority.
The important word is could. This is a planning proposal, not a new hotel facility that guests can use today.
What is being proposed?
Lake District Hotels has applied to alter parts of Inn on the Square in Keswick's Market Square to create a hotel spa.
Planning application 7/2026/2124 describes changes to existing flat-roof areas and parts of the ground and first floors.

Has the rooftop spa been approved?
No. The application is still being considered.
Keswick Town Council has backed the proposal, but that does not amount to planning permission. The Lake District National Park Authority is responsible for the final decision.
Why would this matter?
Inn on the Square already has 34 bedrooms directly on Keswick's pedestrianised Market Square, together with Brossen Steakhouse, the Front Bar and Back Bar.
Its strongest selling point today is location. Guests can walk to shops, cafés, pubs, Hope Park and Derwentwater without needing to drive.
A rooftop spa would move the hotel into a different part of the Keswick accommodation market, particularly for short-break visitors comparing hotels with spa facilities elsewhere in the Lake District.

No. There is currently no rooftop spa to book.
