About The Furness Railway Hotel
The Furness Railway Hotel occupies a former Barrow Co-operative Society department store on Abbey Road, around five minutes’ walk from Barrow-in-Furness railway station. The building now combines a 50-room hotel with The Furness Railway Wetherspoon pub, giving guests a central base with food and drink immediately next door.
All 50 rooms are en suite and the hotel lists Freeview television, unlimited free Wi-Fi and temperature control. Family rooms are available, and the building has a lift and step-free access. The attached pub serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and stays open later than many café-style hotel restaurants, which can be useful after an evening arrival.

Parking needs a little planning. The hotel currently has only seven spaces on site, offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Pay-and-display car parks are available nearby, and the hotel notes that some nearby public parking is free overnight and on Sundays and bank holidays, subject to the signs and current council rules.
This is a particularly convenient option for rail travellers, visitors wanting nightlife and food within the same building, or anyone planning a short central stay without needing a resort-style hotel.
Our local note
A strong-value central base with a proper pub downstairs and the railway station close by. The main limitation is the very small on-site car park.
