Your guide to Frizington

Frizington is a former mining village on the western edge of the Lake District, conveniently placed for Ennerdale, Whitehaven and the quieter fells of Copeland.

The village grew with the iron-ore and coal industries that shaped much of west Cumbria. Its practical character and surrounding settlements tell an important part of the region’s story beyond tourism and postcard landscapes.

Frizington is a useful base for exploring Ennerdale, Cleator Moor, Egremont and the coast. Nearby trails and old transport routes offer walking and cycling connections through a landscape where industry and nature sit side by side.
