Maggie's Bridge Car Park
Tiny countryside car park at Maggie's Bridge, Loweswater, with around six to eight spaces. It is the main starting point for the accessible Loweswater Miles Without Stiles route, Holme Wood, the lakeshore and the National Trust Corpse Road and Tumuli walk.

About this car park
Maggie's Bridge Car Park is the principal small parking area for the south-eastern side of Loweswater. It sits at the start of one of the Lake District National Park Authority's Miles Without Stiles routes and is also used for walks into Holme Wood, along the Loweswater shore and onto the National Trust's Corpse Road and Tumuli trail.
The National Park Authority describes the car park as having space for only six to eight cars. It can therefore fill very quickly on fine weekends and during holiday periods. The parking area should not be treated as a large visitor car park, and drivers should never block the surrounding narrow lane, farm entrances, gates or passing places if it is full.
The official access point is at postcode CA13 0RU, OS grid reference NY 13449 21040 and what3words ///quietest.extensive.swipes. The Lake District National Park Authority advises approaching from the B5292 from Cockermouth and the B5289 through Low Lorton, following signs for Loweswater and turning at grid reference NY138211. The final turning is not specifically signposted for Maggie's Bridge.
There are no toilets, café, bins or other visitor facilities at the car park. The Kirkstile Inn in Loweswater village is the nearest place identified by the National Park for refreshments and customer toilet facilities. There is also no public transport to the start of the route.
Maggie's Bridge is particularly useful for visitors with limited mobility because the main path towards Watergate Farm, Holme Wood and the lakeshore has been upgraded as a Miles Without Stiles route. The National Park states that the principal route through Holme Wood is now fully accessible for wheelchair users, although the car park itself does not have separately published designated accessible-space numbers.
Important ownership note: the National Trust currently states that parking at Loweswater and Crummock Water is not National Trust parking. Cumbria Guru therefore does not list the National Trust as the operator of Maggie's Bridge unless an authoritative operator is confirmed in future. Follow any on-site signage regarding parking conditions or charges.

Current National Trust visitor information states Loweswater parking is not National Trust parking, so National Trust member parking benefits should not be assumed.

LDNPA lists no facilities on the route. No toilets, café or bins at Maggie's Bridge; Kirkstile Inn is the nearest refreshments/toilet option for customers.
