Hammond's Pond Café is the café inside Hammond's Pond, one of south Carlisle's most useful family parks. Local couple Eben Meyers and Leona Miller took on the lease and officially reopened the café on 26 July 2026.The launch offer includes coffee supplied by Carlisle roaster John Watt & Son, Lakes Ice Cream, bottled drinks, crisps and chocolate. The operators have said they plan to broaden the menu with light meals and snacks including sandwiches, wraps, paninis, jacket potatoes, pies, cakes and sweet pastries as the business develops.The café is intended to be more than a refreshment stop.

The new operators have described plans for a community hub with weekly clubs, seasonal events and activities shaped partly by feedback from local residents and park users.Cumberland Council currently publishes café opening of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Sunday, during the season from 1 April, or the Easter holidays if earlier, until 30 November. Seasonal dates and hours can change, so check the council or café's latest information before making a special journey outside the main season.The location is particularly useful for families because Hammond's Pond also has two free car parks, public toilets, children's play areas, accessible circular paths, football pitches, an all-weather multi-use games area, a concrete skatepark and the seasonal Carlisle and District Model Engineering Society miniature railway.The café is reached from Hammond's Pond off Blackwell Road in Carlisle. Worth It
A welcome return for one of Carlisle's best-known park cafés. It is especially handy for families using the play areas, skatepark and miniature railway, with free park parking and a broader food offer planned as the new operators settle in.
