We’d been dying to try Number 11 Market Place, a new restaurant in Whitehaven, since it opened last month.

It’s easy to book using Open Table, or by contacting the restaurant directly. The first thing that I noticed was the on trend decor. It feels homely, and the use of original features (the floating door and fireplace were my favourites) is impressive. The menu is quite unique for West Cumbria, which was refreshing! Our party ordered a range of starters: mac and cheese, chilli nachos, salt and pepper prawns and a blooming onion. The food was brought out quickly; it tasted fresh and added to the homely feel.

For mains, we had a good sample from the menu. We tried the Smoked Brisket Burnt Ends from the Smokehouse, the Number 11 Burger, the Halloumi Burger and the Bistro Rump Steak. Again, the service was speedy but the quality was still fresh and delicious. The four of us were very pleased with the meals. Mr Guru upgraded his fries to Peperoni Pizza Fries… a wise decision as they were epic.

Being new to Number 11 Market Place, we felt that it would be rude not to end the evening with a pudding! Sticky Toffee Pudding, Chocolate Fudge Cake… the options were fabulous.

One thing that I really loved about the place, is that Tom and his team insist on using Cumbrian produce as much as possible. Everything was of a high quality and, for what you got, very well priced. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend that you visit.
