About Windermere Jetty Museum

Windermere Jetty Museum sits on the lakeshore at Rayrigg Road, within walking distance of Bowness Pier. The museum explores more than 200 years of boating on Windermere through historic vessels, interactive interpretation, changing exhibitions and views into its working conservation workshop and wet dock.

Depending on the programme, visitors may also find heritage boat experiences, family activities and events. The site includes a café and gift shop. Admission, boat experiences and event availability can change, and some activities require separate booking. Check the current ticket options, parking arrangements and access guide before travelling, particularly when step-free access or a specific boat experience is essential.
The Cumbria Guru verdict

Our local note

One of Bowness town centre’s biggest missing attractions on Cumbria Guru: substantial enough for a dedicated visit and particularly strong for wet-weather or family days.
