It is a cracking location for it. Harbour House sits right beside Harrington Harbour, looking out towards the Solway Firth. The former club building is much bigger than a small coffee shop too, with around 5,949 sq ft of accommodation. Previous property details show several former bar and function spaces, storage areas, upper-floor accommodation and a sizeable surfaced parking area, so there is plenty of scope for the site to develop beyond the initial café idea.

When is The Harbour Side opening?

There is no confirmed opening date yet. The owners say there is a lot of work ahead and that the building will be transformed over the coming months. They plan to share the renovation as it happens.

For now, treat The Harbour Side as firmly coming soon. Opening hours, menus, prices and other visitor details have not yet been announced.

What is planned?

The first announcement confirms coffee and food as the starting point, making the most of the harbour setting and views. The owners have also teased that there is “plenty more to come”, although no further uses have been confirmed yet.

A welcoming place to eat and drink right on Harrington Harbour could work particularly well for local walkers, cyclists, families and anyone exploring this stretch of the Cumbrian coast.

Where is The Harbour Side?

The Harbour Side will be at Harbour House, North Side, Harrington, Workington, CA14 5QW, the former Harrington Sailing & Fishing Club.

The property has a large surfaced parking area, although parking arrangements for the new venue have not yet been confirmed. Harrington railway station is also within walking distance, giving the harbour a useful connection to the Cumbrian Coast Line.

A new chapter for Harbour House

For years the building was home to Harrington Sailing & Fishing Club. The property was subsequently marketed for sale with its waterfront position, function rooms and harbour views among its main features. The new owners have now confirmed that the purchase is complete and intend to bring the building back to life for the local community and visitors.
