The Glebe
A large lakeside green and recreation area in Bowness with a promenade, bandstand, tennis, crazy golf, pitch and putt, footgolf and picnic space.
The Glebe is one of Bowness-on-Windermere's most useful public outdoor spaces, occupying a broad grassed area beside the lakeside promenade. It is suitable for a relaxed walk, picnic or a break from the busier streets around the pier. Seasonal leisure facilities operated from the Glebe Park cabin can include crazy golf, a nine-hole pitch-and-putt course, footgolf, tennis courts and equipment hire. The bandstand is also used for performances and community activity. The green itself is open public space, while paid activities, refreshments and staffed facilities operate to changing seasonal patterns. Check current availability and weather before travelling specifically for an activity.
Our local note
A simple but essential Bowness stop for lake views, picnics and low-key family activities, with more space than the crowded pier area.
