The Brickyard

The Brickyard is Carlisle’s iconic live music venue, known for hosting some of the best gigs in Cumbria for over two decades. Originally built more than 100 years ago as The Richmond Memorial Hall, the building has deep roots in the city’s cultural history. After years of closure, it was reborn as The Brickyard on New Year’s Eve 2002 – and has since become a cornerstone of Carlisle’s music scene. With a capacity of 320, The Brickyard offers an intimate setting where you can catch everything from rising indie bands to established touring acts. Its stage has seen a wide mix of genres and performers, cementing its reputation as one of the North’s most atmospheric small venues. Perfectly positioned between Newcastle and Glasgow, The Brickyard continues to draw artists and fans from across the region – keeping live music alive in the heart of Carlisle.
