About Millom Heritage & Arts Centre
Millom Heritage & Arts Centre occupies the Victorian railway-station building and is the best starting point for understanding how iron mining, rail and industry transformed Millom.
The free museum covers more than 150 years of local social and industrial history through themed rooms, artefacts, visual displays and audio. Collections include Millom's mining story, RAF Millom, local poet Norman Nicholson, an early-20th-century miner's cottage display and memorial material relating to local people who served in the world wars.

The centre also operates Millom's railway ticket office, has a gift shop and stocks tourist information, local walking leaflets and Ordnance Survey maps.
The museum states that it is open throughout the year except January, Monday to Saturday from 9am to 3.30pm. Entry is free, with donations welcomed. The separate railway ticket-office hours differ, so do not confuse the two.
Our local note
The essential first stop for Millom: free, directly at the station and genuinely useful for understanding the town before exploring Hodbarrow and the coast.
