Set right on the seafront in the peaceful Victorian village of Seascale, Mawson’s is a family-run ice cream parlour and coffee shop with a story as wholesome as its flavours. Established in 2009 to make use of milk and cream from their own pedigree herd, Mawson’s has grown into one of West Cumbria’s sweetest success stories – quite literally.

Every scoop of their Italian-style dairy ice cream is freshly made in small batches on the family farm by Lizzie, using the richest milk from their own Holstein Friesians and Jerseys. With over 150 flavours created to date, there’s always something new to discover, from classic favourites to inventive seasonal specials. Vegan and dairy-free options (usually oat-based) are always available too.

It’s far more than an ice cream stop. Mawson’s serves brunch, light lunches, homemade cakes, Belgian waffles, pancake stacks, crepes, sundaes, and excellent speciality coffee – all made with care and top-quality ingredients. Their cakes are baked in-house daily, with gluten-free and vegan choices often on the counter.

Families love Mawson’s for its warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere, and little ones can burn off energy in the soft play area and dedicated kids’ party room. Outside catering is also available for weddings, corporate events, country fairs, school events, and private parties.
