What to expect
One of the more atmospheric post-Christmas events in Carlisle, pairing familiar classical music with the Cathedral's historic setting and candlelit presentation.
Vivaldi's Four Seasons returns to Carlisle Cathedral in a special Christmas by Candlelight concert on Tuesday 29 December 2026.
The advertised programme combines Vivaldi's famous concertos with seasonal and classical favourites including Pachelbel's Canon in D, Corelli's Christmas Concerto, Elgar's Nimrod, Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty Waltz and Strauss's The Blue Danube.
The concert is performed by the Piccadilly Sinfonietta with a leading violin soloist, using the scale and atmosphere of Carlisle Cathedral for a deliberately festive winter evening.
